Ms. Sarah H. AlShawa is a Technical Instructor in the Department of Cybersecurity at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU), Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. She holds a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity with honors from the College of Computing and Mathematics, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Digital System Security) from the College of Engineering and Information Sciences, University of Wollongong, Australia.
Combining strong theoretical foundations with hands-on technical expertise, Ms. AlShawa delivers transformative instruction across cybersecurity, networking, software engineering, and IT systems. She bridges the gap between academia and practice, mentoring students in applied research, and leading curriculum innovations that equip graduates to tackle the rapidly evolving challenges of the digital landscape.
Driven by a passion for empowering the next generation, she developed the first-ever cybersecurity awareness platform for youth in Saudi Arabia, now integrated into schools nationwide. The platform enables students to cultivate safe and resilient digital habits, reflecting her commitment to advancing cybersecurity education at a national scale.
Her research complements her teaching and innovation, focusing on cybersecurity awareness and resilience, secure system design, network and endpoint security, automation and AI-driven IT operations, critical infrastructure protection, and user-centered cybersecurity solutions. She has also achieved recognition for her technical excellence, winning first place in a national Computer Science Innovation Fair for her machine learning-based system for early detection of neurodegenerative diseases, highlighting her ability to transform advanced AI research into practical, high-impact applications.
