Arabic for High Beginners

Course/Workshop Title: Arabic for High Beginners
Course/Workshop Description A wide range of topics appropriate for day-to-day conversation will be covered: e.g. common greetings and expressions, introducing one self, ordering in a restaurant, going shopping, seeking and providing information, expressing likes and dislikes and describing daily activities.
Course/Workshop Duration: 8 weeks, 4 hours per week
Course/Workshop Objectives: In this course students will learn and express themselves in spoken Arabic, both in formal and informal situations. 
Course/Workshop Learning Outcomes/Competencies:
  1. Students will be able to make a self-introduction (name, age, nationality, parents’ names, and ages), count, tell time, say the days of the week and the months and to talk about weather.
  2. Student will be able to order food in a restaurant, to ask about the price, and to pay the bill.
  3. Student will be able to inquire about people (names, nationalities) and to talk about friends.
  4. Student will be able to discuss daily activities and leisure pastimes, using verbs at the present tense.
  5. Students will be able to gather specific information by using interrogative expressions.
  6. Students will be able to describe people and objects using different adjectives (color, size, shape, etc.)
  7. Students will be able to ask for directions or for certain places.
  8. Students will be able to describe their school, room and house.
  9. The students will be able to talk about personal possessions.
  10. Students will be able to talk about their daily routine and future plans.
